Ford House is a 5 star self catering holiday house in the centre of Cartmel, which sleeps up to 10 people. The outstanding accommodation features original character beams, real log fires and a farmhouse flag floor with under-floor heating system.
The double-fronted period property has 5 roomy bedrooms, 3 luxury bathrooms, 2 reception rooms and a brand new kitchen. The character room lounge has an open fireplace, wooden floorboards and beamed ceilings and a TV. The dining room has slate flags with under floor heating, and an open fire. A large oak dining table seats 10 people and there is an iPod dock / CD music centre for entertainment. There is also a downstairs cloakroom with plenty of space for drying wet coats and muddy boots, thanks to the underfloor heating. Outside at the rear there is a large walled garden with a BBQ and outdoor seating and table for 10 people. The village offers several good quality restaurants, pubs and shops, and is the ideal base from which to explore the southern and western Lake District. There are plenty of local walks for all levels and over a variety of terrains, from fell country to coastal walks. |

Greenhead Hostel offers accommodation to Walking Clubs and Ramblers groups in the Heart of the stunning Hadrian`s Wall Country. The Hostel is the ideal centre for groups wishing to walk the many footpaths around Hadrian`s Wall whether they are short walks, circular routes or parts of long distance paths or National Trails.
Two National Trails meet just half a mile north of the Hostel, the Pennine Way and Hadrian`s Wall Path, making the hostel the ideal overnight stop for the long distance walker. The area around Greenhead is crisscrossed with public footpaths and bridleways. These present the opportunity to plan and walk your own routes as well as follow many published guided routes in the area. A mixture of terrain allows walks to be planned to suit walkers of all abilities. From the stroll to the strenuous the area around the Hostel has much to offer. The Hostel provides the opportunity to walk in some the Britain`s most historical countryside. Hadrian`s Wall is just half a mile from the hostel and the newly refurbished Roman Army Museum at Carvoran is only a 30 minute walk from the front door. The best way to discover this beautiful area is on foot, whether it be the forests north of the Wall or Blenkinsop Common south of Greenhead, the paths lead you back through thousands of years of history, many offering outstanding views of the North Pennines and some of the most unspoilt countryside left in England and its attendant wildlife. The Hostel provides 40 beds split over two floors, ideal for mixed gender groups. A large Common Room with kitchen provides plenty of space for socialising. Across the road from the Hostel is the Greenhead Hotel that provides food all day as well as a variety of wines and beer including locally brewed real ale. The hotel can also provide packed lunches on request. Smaller groups can be accommodated in the Greenhead Hotel; with 4 en-suite double bedrooms the hotel offers an excellent level of comfort. If you are planning a day trip to the area the Greenhead Hotel can offer you sustenance and refreshment. If you want to start your walk with a coffee, break for a snack or end with a meal, the Hotel is perfectly placed to provide for your needs, with food served from Noon until 8.30pm or at other times by arrangement |
