We have several exciting international charity challenges to inspire you!..and in which we need your participation in!! These include:
Trek Kilimanjaro - Climb Africa’s highest mountain - Kilimanjaro's snow capped peak climbs 5,895 metres over the surrounding plains. Made up of three volcanoes, all of which have been lying dormant for centuries, it is one of the largest free standing mountains in the World. Our most challenging, but also the most rewarding trek to take on.

Cycle London to Paris -
Cycle 300km in 3 days, taking in the picturesque countryside and sleepy villages before reaching the Parisian boulevards to take you to the finish at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Eurostar train is provided for your journey home, so no cycling back is required!
This challenge is for all, whether you're a biking enthusiast wanting to push your cycling boundaries a bit further, or just those wanting to do a charity challenge that's not too time consuming or far from home.

Trek in Costa Rica -
Despite being small, Costa Rica is perfectly formed being home to 5% of all plant and animal species on the planet, with natural habitats including rainforests, volcanoes, mountains and coastal zones. It is a magnificent and diverse country to be explored, which you can do on this adventure charity challenge!
The 11 day trek will take you through coffee plantations, oak forests, and dense tropical rainforest, before finishing on a palm tree-lined tropical beach, all with the sound of howler monkeys and exotic bird calls around you. Truly an unforgettable experience in this remote and stunningly beautiful area.

Bike Ride through Cuba -
From vibrant, bustling Havana to the more laid back western province, to the spectacular beaches with clear blue seas of the Gulf of Mexico, Cuba has much to offer and enchant you with over this 11 day Charity Challenge bike ride, allowing you to really get up close and amongst it!

All of the above trips will be a truly great experience for anyone to undertake, and a great goal to work towards. But this is also coupled with you being able to use this to give something back in return by raising vital funds for West Midlands based international humanitarian aid charity, Concern Universal. The money you raise will make a real, positive difference to some of the poorest communities in the world, giving them the opportunities they need to lift themselves out of poverty. Just £1,000 can repair a borehole in Wajir, Kenya, helping prevent water-related diseases for an entire community.

Concern Universal supports practical initiatives that improve the daily lives of people living in some of the world's poorest communities in Asia, Africa and Latin America - for instance providing greater income earning opportunities, improved health care, or a clean water supply. Last year, our work benefited approximately 1.5 million people internationally.

Contact Jackie on 01432 355 111 or email jackie.broatch@concern-universal.org for more information on any of the above challenges.

Experience Vietnam in a unique way with a charity trek

16 - 25 October, 2008

Do places like Mai Chau, Ban Bouc or Co Luong evoke images of something exotic, mysterious and exciting?

If like many other people, you are unaware of the beauty of the mountainous areas in North Vietnam, then why not take part in a trek with disability charity Scope to discover them?

This trek in the Hoa Binh Province is a great opportunity to visit an area off-the-beaten-track and raise funds for a good cause, whether you are a keen trekker or just fancy doing something a bit different.

The adventurous five-day trek will take you to some of North Vietnam’s most beautiful and untouched regions. You will pass through many picturesque villages and lush paddy fields, meet local villagers and savour authentic Vietnamese food. Participants will get to experience the everyday life and culture of Thai and Muong people as they stay in scenic villages and sleep as guests in traditional village homes.

Cordelia Hughes, Events Fundraiser at Scope states: “Every kilometre you trek in Vietnam will help change the lives of disabled people back in the UK. This is really an experience of a lifetime and I can guarantee that you’ll be blown away by the journey, scenery and overall experience.”

The money raised will help Scope provide vital services for people with cerebral palsy and supports its Time to Get Equal campaign – which fights for equality for all disabled people.

Scope has been running challenge events since 1996 to fund the charity’s work with disabled people. To date, Scope has raised over £23 million.

The challenge takes place from the 16th to the 25th October 2008. There is a registration fee of £199 and a minimum sponsorship of £2,800. This includes return flights, accommodation and all meals.

For more on the Vietnam trek or other Scope events please visit http://www.scope.org.uk/adventures/ or call the 24-hour events hotline on 0800 0191 200
