Our Brittany house, near to St Malo, is a large, spacious, 3 storied granite built farmhouse which was completely renovated in 2006. There are 6 bedrooms, one of which we have converted into a media room which includes sofa bed, TV, DVD and library. We have 3 double en suite rooms and 2 twin rooms each with sinks in that share a bathroom on the same floor; there is also an additional cloakroom downstairs. The sitting room has a log burner, ample sofas and a large oak dining table. The kitchen is well equipped and has a dishwasher, microwave and large fridge/freezer. There is plenty of outdoor space with a large flat field, an enclosed rear garden and a covered play area with swings, table tennis, play equipment and basketball net. Teh area is ideal for walking with many local areas of interest, the house has been used by walking, golfing and cycling parties. Charming b&b/chambres d`hotes /self-catering gite(sleeps up to 12) in the Ariege region of France. Not far from Mirepoix. This is an area of outstanding walking and cycling country. My nearest airports are Toulouse and Carcassonne. This would be an ideal place for people to come and make this a base from which to carry out a walking/cycling holiday, or to use it as a one or two night stay point whilst doing a more extensive tour. The property can be rented in its entirety, sleeping up to twelve. My b&b, offers three rooms, two of which are ensuite, I am prepared to do evening meals, and packed lunches if requested to. The maximum I could sleep would be ten people. I have a superb swimming pool, and plenty of space for chilling out (indoors or outdoors), also lockable storage space for bicycles, and I am open all year. In my view, the exceptionally good time to do walking based holidays from here are in the winter months, when I do most of my walking. We have days of endless sunshine - although chilly, it makes for very good walking conditions From my own doorstep there are many walks ranging from really easy, through undulating wooded landscapes breaking through the forests to be faced with fantastic views, and others that are slightly more challenging. On all of these the landscapes give terrific vistas. To go a little further a field, one can be offered much steeper ascents.

Esquilou, Languedoc holiday cottages
2 and 3 bedroom self-catering cottages with pool (sleep up to 10 + baby) These beautifully renovated semi-detached properties with pool stand in their own garden/terrace. Each house has modern new kitchen facilities with dining and living room areas, comfortable, well-appointed bedrooms, and separate outside dining areas. Esquilou 1 sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms whilst Esquilou 2 sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms. Roof beams and original features have been blended harmoniously with the modern renovations, in keeping with this over 100-year old property. Nearby Saint Gervais sur Mare is on the Saint Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage route, the GR653, which begins in Arles and ends in Spain. There are numerous tracks around the village which are quiet and safe for walking and mountain biking. At the end of a walking track, near the ruined church of St Laurent des Nières (currently being restored and in a lovely picnic spot), is a beautiful small secluded lake where you can swim or fish. The Espinouse, Caroux and Somail moutain tracks are within 20-30 mins drive from the village. Local walking tracks are well-documented and maps are available from the owners or from the museum in St Gervais sur Mare, which also organises guided walks and day courses in dry-stone walling.
