| Dereenaraigh, Castlecove, Co Kerry | |

A beautiful holiday cottage in Kerry.
Nestled in the stunning Ring of Kerry, Dereenaraig is an oasis of tranquility. The historic cottage has been sensitively restored and retains many original features with added modern comforts. As well as offering all the facilities you may need after a good day hiking, fishing or swimming, the cottage has everything you want for lazy days watching wildlife, snuggling up in front of the wood burner or entertaining family and friends. Located at the end of a country road, below Coad Mountain, with the River Staigue running past the bottom of the garden, this is an ideal base to explore the Iveragh peninsular. A mile from the village of Castlecove and the spectacular Kenmare River, the area is bursting with archaeological sites, stunning scenery and amazing wildlife. County Kerry and the Iveragh Peninsula are situated in one of the most unspoilt and picturesque areas of Ireland. The area is warmed by the Gulf Stream and frosts are rare. Along the local seashore, from Castle Cove to Caherdaniel, are small, sheltered sandy bays, one of which, OCarrol’s Cove, contains the only seashore bar in Ireland. Boats can be hired for sea–fishing trips and for excursions to historic sites such as Skellig Michael. Inland, the mountains and moors can be walked or hiked or used for pony trekking and the long distance footpath, the Kerry Way, passes through the parish. Local firms offer outdoor adventure holidays including trekking and kayaking. Kerry can be considered to be one large archaeological site, with numerous prehistoric and early Christian sites and monuments. Staigue Fort, arguably the best-preserved, stone ring fort in Ireland, is just a short distance away from Dereenaraig. Sleeps 6 |

| Fairhill House Hotel Connemara | |
|---|---|
Fairhill House Hotel is a hive of activity these days, after the long winter as we prepare to welcome visitors once more to the west of Ireland. The quaint village of Clonbur, (`An Fhairce` in Irish), located on the narrow peninsula separating Lough Corrib and Lough Mask, is the gateway to the breath-taking Connemara region.
Attracted by the easy pace of life here, our guests love exploring the unspoiled Connemara countryside, rambling along the quiet mountain boreens overlooking the lakes, soaking up the stunning Connemara scenery. While some prefer to ramble as they please, many more are using the Failte Ireland Loop walks and the mapped forestry walks as their walking routes. There are also several guided walks locally, where the commentary and the walks together serve to enhance and personalise the whole walking experience. Hill walking is also a popular activity here, though thorough planning and care are necessary to ensure a safe hike. We offer walkers a packed lunch, suggested walks and an efficient wet-room service should they get caught in a shower. All Rooms en-suite. Rates from €45 per person B&B. Free internet access. You could meet anybody in Clonbur - don't miss out! Fairhill House Hotel, Clonbur, Connemara, Co. Galway. Phone 094 9546176 |

Inchimore is a traditional Irish stone farmhouse, with modern facilities available all year for self-catering holidays. It is set in a beautiful and secluded valley on the borders of South Kerry and West Cork. Our nearest neighbours are over 3km away.
If you like rugged mountains, wild rivers, corrie lakes, unspoilt views and a multitude of waterfalls both on and near the property you will love Inchimore Farm. This area was chosen as the setting for part of the award winning film The Wind that Shakes the Barley and a walk in this area encompassing Co. Cork’s tallest mountain, Knock Boy, has been reviewed recently in the Irish Times Travel Magazine. You can see it on this link http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/travel/2010/0403/1224267590114.html. The steep cliffs above our lake, called variously Caoinkeen, Akinkeen, or locally just Kinkeen, are featured on several websites describing mountain views. From the top of the cliffs, on a clear day, you can just make out the village of Kilgarvan about 9 miles away. There is also much information available on the web about Gougane Barra and Priests Leap both of which make an interesting and exciting days walk from the farm. A multitude of rambles are possible on the farm itself or slightly further afield around our lake. Lake Akinkeen is 1000ft by 600ft, and, as you will see from the photos in the website, it has a stunning backdrop of almost vertical cliffs. They are classed as being almost unscalable, but there are various means of reaching the top and experiencing the stunning view right down the valley to the village of Kilgarvan. The delightful market town of Kenmare is home to many events hosted by Kenmare Walking Club which anyone can join in. As you will see from my website, our accommodation here is quite varied and up to 10 people could stay, depending on how well you know each other! The dairy room is especially flexible and the huge kitchen a good gathering place for everybody at the end of a day out in the mountains. We can often provide produce from our other farm in the Borlin Valley and could provide lunch boxes and cook an evening meal for you too. |
