The Way of St James
Walking Holiday Dublin 8 Ireland The Way of St. James or St. James` Way (Spanish name: El Camino de Santiago),has existed for over a thousand years. The French Way (Spanish: Camino Francés) is the most popular of the routes of the Way of St. James, the ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. It runs from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on the French side of the Pyrenees to Roncesvalles on the Spanish side and then another 780km on to Santiago de Compostela through the major cities of Pamplona, Logroño, Burgos and Léon. At each stage, you are guaranteed a great level of comfort and gastronomy. The marking is extremely well made with the “Scallop Shell” showing you the way. The walk requires a good physical condition. However, it`s a highly rewarding walk including numerous great cultural highlights.
