Walking Holiday Quarteira Portugal We organise guided and self guided walking tours to Portugal, Madeira and the Azores and can arrange tailor-made holidays for walking clubs.
Walking in Portugal is a rewarding and relaxing way to discover the country\'s unspoilt natural beauty, picturesque villages, ancient monuments and fascinating wildlife. Portugal is one of the least populated, and consequently least built up, countries in Europe. So even in popular tourist areas like the Algarve you\'ll be pleasantly surprised by how quickly you find yourself in peaceful countryside and there are eleven national or natural parks which are are renowned for having some of Europe\'s richest wildlife habitats with a wide variety of animal, plant and bird life. Walking in Portugal is stimulating as, although it is a small country, it is full of contrasts and there are always a few surprises in store- a stunning view here, an unassuming café serving local delicacies there, the first sighting of an intriguing native bird or a delicate wild orchid. From the white-washed cottages and citrus orchards in the South to the bleak mountains, granite farming villages and lush green valleys of the North each region has its own distinct identity. As you explore more of the country you will find an abundance of different landscapes, habitats, architecture, lifestyles, festivals and of course yummy, local food. The Atlantic islands of Madeira and the Azores are a walker\'s paradise with their spectacular beauty, warm climate and civilised pace of life. Subtropical Madeira is known as the \'floating garden\' thanks to its exuberant flowers and plant life, while the venerable forests of the Azores are home to many unusual native species. As you hike along the hill tops, keep an eye on the sea below as dolphins, whales and countless sea birds also relish the peace of these islands. Please contact us for suggestions for your Portugal, Madeira or Azores walking holiday. We hope to see you soon! |

Walking Holiday Portalegre Portugal Quinta Azenha do Ramalho is a luxurious self-catering house accomodating up to 8 people. It is located in the Parque Natural da Serra de Sao Mamede, Alentejo, Portugal.
This is an exceptional part of unspoilt Portugal, full of character, barely touched by tourism and steeped in history. At the Quinta we provide maps and detailed route notes for 9 walks. They are graded easy to moderate and range in distance from 7 to 14 kms. The walks take you along cobbled medieval roads and through wooded areas of cork oak and chestnut to rocky ridges with views that go on for ever. Vineyards and olive groves line the routes and in spring the profusion of coloured wild flowers carpet the countryside. Some of the walks take you through Marvao and Castelo de Vide which are among Portugal`s prettiest medieval villages. The climate is great for walking with the exception of July and August, even in winter there are many sunny days which are just perfect for hiking. Few tourists and walkers have discovered this beautiful, secluded and unspoilt area of Portugal making it a perfect place for a relaxing walking holiday. |
