Rambling Club in Gwynedd Wales
Chamois Mountaineering Club
Founded in 1964 this rambling club in Gwynedd boasts over 200 members countrywide. It is a member of the British Mountaineering Council and is also affiliated to the Ramblers` Association.
Members of the club meet mostly at weekends. During the summer rock climbing is available and during the winter snow and ice climbing. Hill walking and scrambling and available during both the summer and winter. Downhill skiing, mountain biking, caving and orienteering are also popular.
The club circulate a newsletter to members every two months. This outlines details of forthcoming meets, club information etc.
The club publish their meets annually. Members meet at the Chamois Mountaineering Centre for the last full weekend of each month together with Bank Holidays.
During the middle of the month, the club organise a weekend meet. This will usually be in other mountainous areas of the UK, for example, Mid Wales and the Lake District.
Every winter a week long downhill skiing meet is organised in the Alps and members often walk and climb in the Alps during the summer.
