Rambling Club in Cumbria
The Whitehaven Rambling Club in Cumbria was originally established in 1928. From 1931 weekend breaks were occasionally organised by the club which, from 1967, became regular events.
Every two weeks throughout the year rambles are organised regularly by the club on a Sunday. There is a leader for every walk and there are a wide variety of walks, thus catering for all abilities. Walks are graded from easy through to strenuous.
During the summer the club organise evening walks. These are on Wednesdays and last around 2 hours. They are usually not too difficult.
In the winter on Wednesday evenings the club set a programme of walks and social events. They also put together an agenda for trips to places of interest locally.
The club arrange two or three holidays every year. These trips last between 4 – 7 days.
