CLOG: Central London Outdoor Group
Who are we?
CLOG (Central London Outdoor Group) is a friendly outdoor activity group for people living in and around London. We are happy to welcome anyone who enjoys walking and exploring our wonderful countryside. Our members are of all ages, from all walks of life and of many different nationalities
Where do we go walking?
Our walks programme includes day walks near London, weekend trips to hills and mountains (eg the Lake District, Snowdonia), longer holidays even further afield (eg Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy, Croatia etc)
Our social programme
We also arrange social events in London, including monthly themed social gatherings, evening walks, cinema, theatre and gallery visits, pub and restaurant events
Try us out!
You`re welcome to attend up to three events for free. Most day walks and social events are free; you normally have to be a paid-up member to go on trips away
A bit of history
We are a non-profit-making club which was founded in 1937. We originally organised walking weekends staying in cheap accommodation such as youth hostels. Today our trips stay in a variety of accommodation
What you get if you join
Members receive advance notice of walks and trips, priority booking for trips, a "hotline" email summarising the forthcoming week`s events, discounts in outdoor gear shops, our newsletter, which is published every few months, a group discount if organising a trip to a YHA hostel, tips on how to organise walks, trips and social events and the chance to put something back in if you want to. All our events are led voluntarily by our members
How many of us are there?
Day walks normally attract 10-20 people; most existing members just turn up rather than say they`re coming. Trips away numbers vary
How to find us
Most of our walks start from railway stations. We often meet near the ticket office at a London mainline station. Look out for people dressed as if they`re going on a walk (the leader may have a map!) and ask around for CLOG (Central London Outdoor Group) if you`re not sure who we are. Some members join the train at stations along the way or drive to the start of the walk. If you can`t find us, get on the train and meet us at the destination station.

Southern Trekking and Mountaineering Club
STMC is a London-based mountaineering club, drawing its membership from London and the home counties. The Club was founded more than 25 years ago by a group of keen hillwalkers and climbers who saw a need for a London-area club that was perhaps a little less technical than the established mountaineering and climbing clubs. Ever since, it has drawn its members from a wide area around London, and has tended to attract people who are keen on hillwalking and trekking rather than pure technical rock climbers. New members have ranged from people who are already experienced hillwalkers to comparative novices.
